Postpartum

At Dela, we support women through every stage of postpartum—whether it’s been days, months, or years after childbirth.

What is Postpartum?

Postpartum refers to the period of time following childbirth. While the immediate postpartum phase addresses acute healing, the changes and challenges that come from pregnancy and delivery may persist throughout our lives.  This could include lasting pelvic floor issues, hormonal fluctuations, mental health challenges such as postpartum depression or anxiety, and the enduring effects of cesarean scars or perineal tears.

Postpartum Care At Dela

Motherhood, pregnancy, and childbirth bring lasting changes to a woman’s identity, responsibilities, and emotions, making the postpartum experience a deeply woven part of her life.

Healing after childbirth is more than a six-week checkup. It’s an ongoing journey—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Three Phases of Postpartum Recovery

The postpartum period is typically divided into three phases. We recognize that healing takes time, understand more of your postpartum journey below:

Immediate Postpartum Dela Women's Health

Immediate (First 24 Hours)

This is the critical recovery period right after birth, where the body begins healing, the uterus contracts, and medical professionals monitor for complications.

Early Postpartum Recovery Dela Women's Health

Early Postpartum (First 6 Weeks)

Often called the fourth trimester, this phase includes physical recovery, hormonal shifts, bleeding, breast changes, and emotional adjustments. It’s also when new mothers are at higher risk for postpartum depression and other mood disorders. If you’re struggling mentally or emotionally during this time, don’t wait and seek help. Schedule an appointment and let us help you get back to feeling capable and confident.

12 Months Postpartum Dela Women's Health

Late Postpartum (6 Weeks to 12 Months)

While some physical recovery occurs within the first six weeks, full healing can take months. Hormones continue to regulate, abdominal muscles and pelvic floor strength gradually improves, and breastfeeding (if applicable) stabilizes. Learning to navigate long-term mental, emotional, and lifestyle adjustments is part of this phase, and Dela is here to support you through it.
